Established 1847

Our church was founded in 1847 by 28 original members. It was known as the Plank Road Baptist Conference and met on the old Plank Road near the North Syracuse Cemetery. We changed our name to North Syracuse Baptist Church in 1897, then in 1947 purchased the property of our current building. In 2015, we began our current era as The Gathering Place.

We do now, in the presence of God, Angels, and men, without any known reserve, devote ourselves to God, choosing Him for our God, and portion for ever: promising most solemnly to make His Word the rule of our faith and practice. We engage to maintain a faithful watch and care over each other, and a regular discipline; and to provoke each other to love and good works, to be tender of each others’ persons, characters and estates, to be just towards all. We engage to seek the prosperity of this Church and of the Redeemer’s Kingdom in general wherever we may be so long as we live. All of which, we engage to perform through the gracious assistance of God, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
— The Original 1847 Church Covenant

Our identity is a reflection of God’s identity.

We are called be a family of servant missionaries, disciples who make disciples and the people of God with the power of God on the mission of God.

Gospel. Community. Mission.

Gospel Communities are groups of 3-12 that meet all throughout the greater Syracuse area to grow as disciples and to live out the mission of God by reaching the world around them.
